finally…!

Remember that post about the furisode I posted some time ago…?  There’s been this one obi I’ve been eying for quite some time… and now I don’t have to just eye it anymore!  I’m hoping that the colors are just a tad bit stronger than in the pictures, and yet at the same time I won’t be miffed if they aren’t, because the kimono has such a strong blend of colors to begin with that an obi with slightly quieter colors wouldn’t be a bad thing.  Still, we’ll see how they actually look together.  Either way, it’s a gorgeous piece, and I don’t mind the thought of adding it to my collection, if I can really call it that.

Huzzah for prettiness on a budget!  Huzzah for paychecks!

Also, to take just a moment to vent about something silly, I’ve relearned just why I’ve made the move from the PC to a Mac tonight.  I got my hands on the student edition of Office for Mac, and just installing the updates for the program ate up more time than any other installations/processes/etc. I’ve seen on it so far.  And it does other kind of annoying things that are inherently Microsoftacular.  We’ll see how quickly Transmit 3 and Coda wind up working out when I eventually pick them up, but I’m pretty happy just to have Word again.  I know it sounds odd, especially since I have Pages, but I didn’t want to convert all of my old things to the Pages format just yet.  Anything new I work on (like the Blue’s Alice rewrite) I plan on starting in Pages, but for the sake of formatting and such, it’s good to have Word to fall back on.  Especially since not a whole lot of profs that I know of will accept papers in Pages format.  (Yes, Pages can export files into .doc formats, but it’s been known to have its own little glitches… so, for any assignment that I have to turn in electronically or post for any colleagues to read or look at, this will be a useful thing to have.)

Now, if only Valve will release a Mac-friendly version of Portal.  Mmm, Portal.
